If you were following along, here is Crystal Hutchens' review of the Spenard Spring Social that happened this past weekend. If you didn't go, you surely missed out. I was filling the role of MC.
"If you missed Spenard Spring Social last night, unlucky you! But I got some good footage I hope to include in the music documentary I'm working on. Some outstanding musicians to look out for! Hawkin's Wright, who performed with a stand-up auxiliary drum player, could easily fill the void left by Matt Hopper with great sensitive sensibility to wow the gals. Jacob Carpenter astounded the crowd by playing the guitar, drums and singing all at the same time!! And he charmingly included a great deal of humor into his set as well. Go see him if you can! Izzy Berube who goes as FOR5EEN performed rap in the caliber of Eminem only with incredible introspective and positive lyrics. I was very impressed...and his companion Lataka had the voice of an angel. They are located out of California but said new music will be available at Mammoth in coming months. I would definitely check it out when it arrives. The Duke Russell Experience was the perfect experience as always, with organizer Duke's young son on drums and Izzy's Dad Mr. Dan on bass...I don't know why those guys hardly ever play!! Mike Holt, the resident drummer played double duty with the Flying Flacons, whose stream of conscious psycho-babble lyricism always entertains, and Woodrow, who were in fine form as per usual. TS Scream took up the rear with their original local sound proving after all this time that you can never give up on your dream...these guys only continue to get better with age---and of course, Lee Post was our lovable MC---"
