My Magnificent March Mustache!

Mustache March is in full swing and my beard has magically fallen away to reveal a magnificent March mustache. The only thing left to do is donate money to it to support the good work at Covenant House as a sign of respect. As was the plan last year, everyone who donates will have get a unique picture of grace in a mustache posted to Facebook in their honor. How can you not donate? (hint: you must!)

Alaska Immigration Justice Project "Portraits"

I realized I was completely remiss in not posting anything up about the book I edited as part of my Leadership Anchorage Project for the Alaska Immigration Justice Project.  In short, we had five writers matched with five artists from UAA to produce a book on the first hand experiences of families who immigrated to Alaska.  The end product just about killed everyone to finish in the space of a few months, but  it was very well received, with two gallery shows at the Loussac Library and the UAA Consortium Library as well as tv and newspaper coverage.

The final project has been given away at the AIJP offices and is free to read on the web.

The Mighty Baby

I had the great honor to do a birth announcement for Kim and Andy for their amazing and lovely first born, Sabina.  I started the project with them a few months before their baby was born, so it was a lot of planning then a flurry of activity to wrap everything up as soon as possible.  I ended up going with a quilted and stitched theme, with the tot wrapped in a terrycloth star, then drew lil' Sabina in as soon as she was fully cooked.

Birthday print

I've taken to doing a new print for my daughter's birthday.  The first year was a circus themed birth announcement, last year was St. Patrick's day themed.  This year, B-Move Serial, "The Amazing Grace and the Terrible Two."  Here's a detail and I'll post up the full version before her birthday next month.
