From the Anchorage News on 1-4-08:
Book releases make 'Your Square Life' not as much so
Squares like us can't wait to flip through Lee Post's collection of losers and deep thoughts in "The Very Best of Your Square Life," but the comic strip wonder from Anchorage wants his book release party to get a bit rowdier than that.
So he invited Jared Woods and Michael Holtz to play music at the Midnight Sun Cafe (245 W. Fifth Ave., midnightsuncafeak.com), formerly Lucky Monkey, from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, when Post will sign books, sell art prints and do sketches for people while mingling with friends and fans.
When asked whether his "Very Best" book really includes the very best of Your Square Life, Post said it represents "the absolute pinnacle of my output over six years, or at least roughly 48 percent of my total output over six years, and that's better than tossing a coin."
As a book release bonus, he hopes to project images of every strip he did for the Anchorage Press, even the forsaken 52 percent that didn't make the cut for his book.
Post has two other books coming out as well -- a children's book called "Alaska: Big and Small" and a puzzle book with 16 original comics and puzzles by Cheryl Kirk called "Lies Told to Alaskan Tourists." The "Very Best of" book is $15, the other two $10.
For those who can't make it to the release party, Post will also sign books tonight from 5 to 7 at A Novel View (335 E St., 278-0084). Find out more about the book and these events at yoursquarelife.blogspot.com.-- Dawnell Smith
