Tea with the Hermit crabs

There is no story. It's just how they live. They are very gentlemenly and/or lady-like. We're not sure which. Posted by Picasa

Here are some sketches I did while waiting for a court hearing at work. It was a long wait.  Posted by Picasa

An Allegory and cupcakes!

Good stuff from my friends at bigstonehead.net.

First up, "An Allegory"

Watch past the slow bit at the start for eye-popping joy. Then pop your eyes back in and watch the second video, "The Epicurean"

. . . and that's how I roll for cupcakes!

Winner!

I just found out that I won the Mountain View Arts and Cultural District Logo contest. I addition to being $100 richer and getting a free dinner at Nobles, my logo will be used to promote "MACD". I really couldn't be prouder. 1) because my genius was recognized and 2) I've been on the periphery off the project for years now and I'm happy to have a part. If I can't help out monetarily or with my time, I'm glad I could at least help out with this.

They will use the upright, more cosmopolitan design for the actual logo.

And they will likely use the Duct Tape design for T-shirts (Which will make kick ass t-shirts by the way). Buy one.

*Also, the issue of "True North" with my cover is all over Anchorage and its free.

Making the news

Here's a nice little spotlight on the strip from the Comic Con website. The text seems to be reprint from the Anchorage Press article.

YSL goals and dreams (and ponies)

Well, I started work on the massive project of getting a YSL book to press. I will likely self-publish through ComiXpress. I met up with them at A.P.E. and they seem like a pretty good outfit for what I'm doing. I can print on demand and they can take orders through their site as well. We'll see how it goes. I'm shooting for about 150 pages and will likely have it ready before next February. I have to go through each comic individually and reformat it. So far I've done three, with a hundred and fifty or so to go. The plan is to pick my favorites, but if you've got some favorites, please let me know and I'll make sure to include them.

When I'm ready to go to press, I'll give everyone a heads up for pre-orders and such so you won't have to fight the massive crowds to get your copy.

I'm also going to be working on cranking out a few t-shirt designs as well. I'll be posting designs as I get them finished for feedback, with the goal of producing around three of them.

Here's a different and colored version of this week's strip. Look for the punchline to appear on a t-shirt sometime in the future and this image to appear in your Myspace comments as soon..

Best of YSL #31 -Week of June 3, 2006. For the new strips, see Pixelstrips

This is a "homage" to a lyric from a Decemberists song. It's a little obscure, but the visual is one of my favorites.
