Mix-Tape

There is a lot going on in the “Your Square Life Universe” this week. I just got back from my (approximately) 10-year High School Reunion. In my fevered anticipation, I got thinking about the high school mix tape and all that went with them. For those that never indulged, I guess the movie/book “High Fidelity” is the best insight into this little word. I remember hours spent in front of the duel-deck tape boom-box sorting through stacks of tapes, rewinding and syncing until the perfect little rectangle of sound and emotion was produced. Then I started working at a music shop and my friend Fred introduced to making collage covers over the liner notes. (Fred Rains is and was the king of mix-tape.) I just played at it.

On top of it, I’ve been getting some nice compliments from random people about the strip and how it fills a little, unique space in their lives. Combine the two and this strip was born.

Enjoy.
